Can online counselling be as good as in-person counselling?
Everyone has been telling to make a video- to let you all know me in a much more intimate way- and so here it is. It’s not the most professional piece of filming, but I am speaking from my heart. And i’m not going to lie… it’s a little confronting to put yourself out there like that.
Making it reminded me, again, that
it’s a challenge to be authentic in counselling
And in the world in general, for you especially, the person seeking help and feeling worried about being judged or being unsure if counselling will help you with any of the problems invading your life.
So I wanted to give you an opportunity to:
- ‘Meet the real Nicole’
- Hear some thoughts on why I’m so passionate about online spaces and virtual connections
- Hear some of the ways my clients have been helped within online spaces, and some ideas on how you might also be supported.
Online counselling isn’t just talking on Skype or Zoom
Although, if you’re watching this video, you might have an idea of what it would be like to sit with me across ‘time and space’… but I’d be doing a lot less talking and a lot more listening! I also have a passion for writing and expressive arts to support healing journeys, but it seems like you might actually want to ‘meet’ me before we go into all that!
The whole idea of creating a website and inviting you to find out as much about the ways we can work together therapeutically, the ways I can help you heal and find the sides of yourself you didn’t know existed.
To discover your stories that make you stronger, every day.
Is to put you in a position where you are most confident, comfortable and most in control. To give you enough knowledge so that you know you are choosing the right counsellor for you.
But can online counselling be as good as in-person counselling? Really?
Yes! You really can engage in counselling in ways that are ‘outside the box’. I’m inviting you to move towards feeling better in the ways you hope for. You might be braver than you think you are.
I hope this little video helps you take a further step towards discovering that.
Ps: I am working on captioning! It’s a bit harder than I thought it would be, but I am determined so it will happen… at the very least by the next video (gulp!).
