Online Business Coaching For Therapists
Are you considering moving out of the public services sector and into private practice?
Here are some tasty treats to kick you off:
You do not need to accept mental health care plans or insurance to have a successful private practice.
You do not need to spend 50 hours a week on social media to have a successful private practice (in fact, you may not need to be on social media at all if it’s not your bag).
And you can have a life that you shape around your needs, wants and pleasures when you run your own private practice AND be ethical while doing it.
I love what I do
That might sound strange to anyone who isn’t a counsellor. Or anyone who has become disheartened by working for organisations in which the workload and expectations rise every year but the support and wages don’t.
Truth bomb: We are allowed to look after ourselves.
In fact, it is crucial in order to be our best for the people we serve, to truly love what we do (every bit of it). So why don’t more of us allow ourselves to design the kind of practice that enables us to do this work of helping others… free of data collection, bosses, pointless meetings and relentless stress?
One of the hardest things to overcome is the fear-mongering (particularly in Australia)
I can’t tell you the amount of people who said it couldn’t be done without the Medicare rebate, or that it wouldn’t be possible to have an online-only practice when I first started out in 2015.
And i’m not going to lie to you: it wasn’t easy to get where I am now. It’s been a steep learning curve. There were dead-end roads. There were sleepless nights and weeks of worrying: have I made the right decision? Now, with online business coaching for therapists, I’m offering you the support I really could have done with back in the early days.
Let me help you create the therapeutic practice that suits you
The problem with reading books and listening to podcasts is that they aren’t made for YOU alone. Loads of excellent information is worthless if it doesn’t suit your life and showcase your talents and skills. In fact, it can be overwhelming.
A lot of what’s out there is very ‘businessy’. Marketing can seem at odds with many therapists who just want to find their clients and do great work.
But did you know you can ethically market yourself in a way that matches your values and helps bring clients to you who you are best suited to helping? Yep, you can, and you can make it fun as well. Online business coaching for therapists can help you find your way through the murky depths of it all and come out with something you’re proud to offer.
Can you make this work?
Yes! Believe me when I say that if I can, you can (and I’m so much happier for it).
Facts: I have a successful online counselling practice with diverse clients I deeply respect and care for. I make my own hours, can travel with work, and fit my practice around my life. It can be shaped to be more of what I want and less of what I don’t (for instance, adding online relationship coaching to my bow).
You do not have to waste hours doing unnecessary paperwork or spend zillions on advertising or basically do anything that isn’t essential to running a small business or being a good therapist.
You can even work less than you did before
Yes it’s true, I promise! And guess what? I am not special. Anyone with qualifications, skills, gumption and patience can arrive here.
But I do have a fountain of knowledge I’d love to share with you. I also have lived experience, a passion for professionals who want to make their own way in the world, and the ability to draw out your strengths and increase your confidence. I can be your cheerleader as well- online business coaching for therapists can be All Of The Things.
When you first decided to be a counsellor or a wellness practitioner, what did you dream of?
Usually the answer to that question is: helping people. And it is possible to do that: spend most of your working life ACTUALLY helping people and only a small part doing the ‘other’ stuff. But you have to get the ‘other’ stuff right to create your foundation.
You can get it right a lot sooner than I did by not repeating what I got wrong.
Let me help you:
- Figure out what you need to invest in (and what you don’t)
- Get clear on what your abilities are that will help you in building up that all-important network and client base
- Ethically market yourself
- Navigate practicalities such as: professional indemnity, email, invoicing, website, blogging, logistics of video and in-person practice, social media, how to niche, legal concerns, networking, media etc.
- Stay heart-centred and caring in your work but also charge an appropriate fee
- Shape your practice around your lifestyle right from the beginning
- Let go of fears, low self-esteem, ideas around what is ‘worthy/good’ in this work (like that you have to do it for free or you aren’t ‘good enough’ yet) and other unhelpful beliefs holding you back from working how YOU want to
- Bin imposter syndrome 100% (or maybe 85%, which is good enough)
There is a lot to learn when going into private practice. Suddenly you’re thrust into areas we learn nothing about when studying psychotherapy: marketing, information technology, business skills, accounting.
There is also a lot of nonsense, and you don’t need that when you’re creating your dream lifestyle and private practice
Don’t get sucked under by the nonsense and naysayers (especially the ones inside your own head). You can waste so much precious time in dark places.
I’d love to help you make a solid plan and follow it through to design your own meaningful, lucrative and lifestyle-supporting private practice. Turn up to our business coaching for therapists sessions with your questions, your dreams and your plan (from a scribble on a napkin to a fully-realised practice that isn’t working) and let me support you in making it a reality.
