Online counselling can seem daunting. Especially online video counselling.
Even if you think it’s something you might want to try- because of your location or your love of tech or invasions of anxiety in-person or as an expat or your busy life- you may be held back by the worries:
Won’t I be nervous ‘on video’?
Does it still ‘work’?
What if I can’t get comfortable?
I don’t want to bring these problems ‘home’ (although let’s face it- if there’s a problem getting in the way of your life, it’s already ‘at home’)
Do I need to ‘dress up’?
Can I make myself comfortable in the ways I usually would?
How is it different from in person- and how can it possibly be better?
Will I feel unsafe?
What if my dog/child/bird comes into the room during a session?
Will it be too distant?
In this video, I’m sharing a few experiences I have had over the two years i’ve been offering online services. I must admit, I myself have been beautifully and wonderfully surprised by how people truly Show Up for online video counselling.
I hope these experiences may inspire you to reach out, ask questions, or grab a free consult if you are sitting on the fence about online counselling.
It’s YOUR life after all. You only get one.
Maybe I can help you- or other online therapists can- if we can give The Worries the old heave-ho and leave them behind.
Then we can get to work on managing those pesky problems.
